# Sam

> Sam is a free, open-source voice companion for Mac with a natural voice, a real sense of humour and emotional intelligence. It remembers you, adapts to your style and gets things done when you ask. Your voice stays on your Mac.

Sam is free and open source (Apache License 2.0), made by Elijah Ross. It runs on macOS 14 or later with Apple silicon; 16 GB recommended; about 3 GB of models, downloaded once during setup. Last updated 2026-10-18.
